Receipts give clients clear proof of payment and service details, helping you reduce disputes, follow-up questions, and manual paperwork.
Send Receipt allows your business to:
Share proof of payment instantly
Improve client communication and professionalism
Reduce support questions about charges
Keep transactions documented for clients’ records
⚠️ Invoice editability depends on the checkout and payment stage. Some billing details can still be updated after a Check out only action and before the first payment is taken.
Before You Start
Make sure:
The receipt is available to send
The client has a valid phone number or email saved in their profile
💡 Tip: Update contact details before sending to avoid delivery failures.
How It Works
You can access receipts directly from the appointment:
Open the appointment details
Click the ⋯ (3 dots) menu
Select View receipt(s)
In the Receipts window, find the receipt you want to send
Click the Send receipt icon
Choose By message or By email
Review the message details, then click Send
📝 Note: One appointment can have multiple receipts, such as for a deposit, checkout, Extra Charge, Extra Tip, or refund.
Invoice vs Receipt
What’s the difference? | Invoice | Receipt |
Primary purpose | Shows what the client owes | Shows what the client has paid |
Who it’s for | Business (internal record & accounting) | Pet parent as proof of payment |
Created when | When the appointment is created; additional invoices may be created later for Extra Charges or Extra Tips | Separate receipts may appear for deposits, checkout, Extra Charges, Extra Tips, and refunds
|
Quantity | One primary invoice, with additional invoices possible for later Extra Charges or Extra Tips | One or more receipts may be associated with an appointment |
Contains | Services, add-ons, pricing, taxes, tips, totals | Payment amount, method, date/time, and what was paid for |
Editable? | Editability depends on where you are in checkout. After a Check out only action, some billing details can still be updated until the first payment is taken. After that, the original invoice is locked. | Not editable (auto-generated) |
After checkout and full payment | Finalized and locked | Can be resent |
Typical actions | Add services, adjust prices, apply discounts, and collect payment | View, send or resend, and print when available |

FAQs
Can I resend a receipt?
Yes. Open the invoice or receipt anytime and send again.
Can I edit the invoice after payment is taken?
It depends on the payment flow. Prepayments do not automatically lock the invoice while the appointment is still active. After using Check out only, the original invoice is locked once the first payment is taken.
If you need to add another charge or tip after the original invoice is completed, use Extra Charge or Extra Tip.
Why didn’t the client receive it?
Check:
Phone/email is correct
Spam/junk folder (email)
Try sending again
