How pet parents can unsubscribe

The three ways pet parents can opt out of emails or SMS — and what happens in MoeGo when they do.

Pet parents have three ways to unsubscribe from notifications sent through MoeGo. Each method updates their preferences automatically — no manual action is needed on your end.

1. Email unsubscribe link

Every email sent through MoeGo includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom of the message. When a client clicks it, MoeGo automatically updates their email notification preferences and stops sending applicable emails.

📝 Note: The unsubscribe link is added automatically by MoeGo — no setup is required. It will not appear in the message preview inside MoeGo, but it will be visible in the actual email the client receives.

2. SMS opt-out keywords

Clients can reply to any SMS sent through MoeGo with a keyword to opt out:

  • STOP — opts out of all service-related SMS, including appointment reminders

  • STOPM — opts out of marketing SMS only; service-related notifications continue

MoeGo processes these keywords automatically. The client's notification status updates immediately and is reflected in their client profile.

⚠️ Important: STOP removes the client from all service-related SMS — not just marketing. If a client meant to opt out of marketing only, they can reply RESUBSCRIBE to re-enable all SMS, then reply STOPM to opt out of marketing only.

3. Online Booking Client Portal — Communication Settings (Beta)

📝 Note: The Communication Settings page is only available in the updated online booking portal. If your business is still using the older version, please contact MoeGo support to enable the new portal.

Pet parents can review and update their notification preferences at any time through the Client Portal. This is the most flexible option — they can toggle individual channels (SMS/email) on or off for both service-related notifications and marketing campaigns.

To access: Online Booking > Online Booking Portal > Communication Settings.

Changes take effect immediately and sync across all MoeGo communication channels.

What happens after a client unsubscribes

When a client opts out through any of these methods, MoeGo updates their notification preferences automatically. The change is recorded in their client profile under notification settings. MoeGo will stop sending the applicable message type going forward — no manual update to the client profile is needed.

📝 Note: There is currently no automatic alert sent to your business when a client unsubscribes. You can check a client's current notification preferences at any time in their profile.

If a client wants to re-enable notifications after opting out, they can reply RESUBSCRIBE via SMS or update their preferences directly in the Client Portal.
