MoeGo tracks whether each client has given written consent to receive marketing campaigns. This is called their authorization status. For a full introduction to compliance, see Communication Compliance Overview👈
To reach out to existing clients who haven't yet authorized, see How to opt in existing clients 👈
How it works
When a client authorizes, MoeGo updates their authorization status to Complete automatically. No manual action is needed unless you already have documented consent from outside MoeGo (for example, a signed paper form).
There are two authorization approaches:
Let the client authorize themselves — send them an opt-in invitation or have them complete the step during online booking or intake. This gives you the clearest record of consent.
Record consent you've already collected — if you have existing documentation (such as a signed agreement), you can manually mark authorization as complete and upload the proof.
Method 1: Adding a new client or lead
When creating a new client or lead profile, scroll to the Notification section. Here you can choose how to handle authorization from the start.
Option A — Let the client authorize themselves
Leave Notification Authorization as Incomplete. This is the default.
Save the profile.
Send a one-time SMS opt-in invitation from the client profile. The client receives a link where they can review and confirm their notification preferences.
📝 Note: The one-time opt-in invitation SMS counts as an auto message — it does not use SMS credits for Ultimate plan users.
Option B — Record existing consent manually
Set Notification Authorization to Complete.
(Optional) Upload authorization proof — such as a signed form or screenshot — for your records.
Save the profile.
⚠️ Important: Only mark authorization as complete if you genuinely have the client's documented consent. Marking it manually without consent puts your business at risk.
Review notification channel preferences
Before saving the new profile, review the default channel settings for service-related notifications and marketing campaigns. If the client has agreed to receive notifications via SMS, email, or both, update their channel preferences accordingly.
📝 Note: Default channel settings for new clients are configured in Settings > Communication > Compliance.
You can also customize the content of the opt-in invitation your clients receive from this page.
See Company-level notification settings 👈 for details.
Method 2: Intake form
When a client submits your intake form, MoeGo automatically updates their authorization status based on their response to the Marketing Policy consent field.
If the client opts in, their authorization status updates to Complete.
If the client opts out, their authorization status stays Incomplete and MoeGo will not send them marketing campaigns.
To make sure this works correctly, keep the Marketing Policy toggle turned ON in your intake form settings.
For more details on how the intake form consent field works, see Compliance in online booking and intake forms 👈
Method 3: Online booking
When a client books through your online booking page for the first time, they are shown a notification consent step.
If the client confirms consent, their authorization status updates to Complete automatically.
If the client skips or dismisses the consent step (by tapping the X), their settings follow your company-level defaults and their authorization status remains Incomplete.
For more details, see Compliance in online booking and intake forms 👈
Method 4: Individual opt-in invitation from a client profile
For existing clients or leads who haven't yet authorized, you can send a one-time SMS opt-in invitation directly from their profile at any time.
For a client:
Go to the client's profile.
Find the authorization status banner near the top of the profile.
Click Send opt-in invitation. The client receives a link to review and confirm their notification preferences.
For a lead:
Go to the lead profile.
Click the Options button in the top-right corner.
Select Send opt-in invitation.
Once the client or lead completes the form via the link, their authorization status updates to Complete automatically.
💡 Tip: Whenever possible, letting clients authorize themselves through the opt-in link gives you the clearest record of consent and reduces manual effort.
