Understanding Authorization Status

Learn what "Authorization Complete" and "Authorization Incomplete" mean, where to see it, and how it affects what marketing campaigns your clients receive.

MoeGo tracks whether each client has given consent to receive marketing SMS. This is called their authorization status. For a full introduction to compliance, see Communication Compliance Overview β†’

This article explains what each status means, where to find it, and how it affects your client communication.

How it works

  • Authorization status applies specifically to marketing SMS β€” things like rebook reminders, review requests, and promotional campaigns.

  • Marketing emails is not affected by authorization status.

  • Service-related notifications, including SMS, emails, auto-call (like appointment reminders and booking confirmations) are not affected by authorization status.

Each client profile has one of two statuses:

Status

What it means

Authorization Complete

The client has given consent to receive marketing SMS.

Authorization Incomplete

The client has not yet given consent for marketing SMS.

πŸ“ Note: Authorization status is tied to the client profile, not to a specific phone number or email address.

What happens when status is incomplete

πŸ“’ During the current transition period, having an incomplete authorization status does not stop marketing SMS from sending. Existing marketing campaign settings remain active for all clients β€” including those who haven't yet authorized.

This means your clients are currently not missing any marketing campaigns based on their authorization status alone.

πŸ“ Note: The transition period does not have a fixed end date. Once it closes, clients with incomplete authorization will no longer receive marketing campaigns via SMS. MoeGo will communicate the timeline in advance. See Communication Compliance Overview β†’ for the latest update.

Service-related notifications β€” like appointment reminders, booking confirmations, and payment receipts β€” are not affected and will continue sending normally regardless of authorization status.

Where to see authorization status

Authorization status is visible in client profile:
The authorization status banner appears near the top of the profile.

How authorization status gets updated

A client's status moves to Authorization Complete when they:

  • Submit an intake form with the Marketing Policy toggle enabled

  • Complete the consent step during online booking

  • Click the marketing consent link sent via a personal opt-in invitation, mass text, or email campaign

Once a client authorizes, their status updates automatically.
